SJVN Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarships Distributed

SJVN Foundation awarded scholarships to 151 meritorious students of Himachal Pradesh at a function held today at Shimla. To mark the Silver Jubilee of SJVN’s formation, the Company had launched the Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship Scheme in the year 2012.

His Excellency Governor of H.P. Acharya Devvrat ji and Shri N.L. Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN along with Shri Ganesh Dutt Chairman of Committee of Directors on CSR awarded the scholarships of `24,000 per annum each to the selected 151 students. 99 merit scholarships in other states of SJVN's operations namely Uttarakhand, Bihar, Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh are being awarded through the respective projects' offices. This year 250 scholarships will be awarded to meritorious students.

SJVN foundation had started Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship Scheme in the year 2012 for rewarding the merit and talent in the states of its operations. The meritorious students are being selected from CBSE, ICSE and State Board schools. There is special consideration for the students from BPL families and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and from total scholarships 30% and 10% respectively will be disbursed among those persons from these categories.Including those students to whom scholarship was disbursed today, SJVN has awarded 1137 merit scholarshipsunder this scheme.

Sh. Rakesh Sharma, Secretary to His Excellency Governor of Himachal Pradesh along with Shri Kanwar Singh, Director (Civil), SJVN and Chief Vigilance Officer, SJVN, Shri Shyam Singh Negi also graced the occasion.
