SJVN's maiden CSR initiative in Nepal

 The recent unprecedented floods of the Arun river in Nepal caused great havoc to the village Tumku and other nearby village in which many people have been washed away and scores of families rendered houseless, besides private properties with millions of rupees got damaged. SJVN rose to the occasion with its immediate succour by donating INR 31,250/- to the District Natural Disaster Relief Fund, Snkhuwasabha, Nepal towards relief measures to the flood victims.

SJVN has been conscious for providing basic needs to the host population in the project affected area. In this effort now SJVN has provided Rs. one crore to Dy Commissioner Kullu ( The chairperson of Local Area Development Committee for the hydro projects in District Kullu) for installation of various Water Supply Schemes in the project area of Rampur HEP. The above assistance is in addition to 4 energized bore wells already installed by SJVN in the project area and funds of Rs. 14.85 lacs provided to HP IPH to install 7 hand pumps in the project area villages.

As a responsible Corporate Citizen, SJVN have contributed a sum of Rs. 2.5 crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund in the wake of devastating flood in river Kosi which has inundated thousands of the people in the State of Bihar. A cheque of the amount was handed over to the Hon'ble Union Minister of Power Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde and the Minister of State for Power Shri Jairam Ramesh, by the Company's Chairman & Managing Director, Shri H.K. Sharma. The contributions so received from the Power Sector PSU's were further presented to the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh on  September 3, 2008.
