SJVN Observing ‘SWACHHTA HI SEWA’ campaign from 11th Sept. to 2nd Oct. 2019


SHIMLA – Sept. 11, 2019

As per the directions of Ministry of Power, GoI, SJVN is observing ‘SWACHHTA HI SEWA’ campaign, an initiative of Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI from11th September to 02nd October, 2019 in all of its offices and projects. The theme of this year’s Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign is Plastic Waste Management.

In a series of activities planned under this campaign, today a pledge was administered to the employees across all the offices and projects of SJVN. At Corporate Headquarters Shimla, the pledge was administered by Sh. A.S. Bindra, Director (Finance) in the presence of Shri R.K. Bansal, Director (Electrical).

On this occasion, Sh. A.S Bindra said that the campaign initiated by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi aims at mobilizing people in creating awareness towards maintaining sanitation and holistic cleanliness. This year the focus of the campaign is on Plastic Waste Management and towards effective ban of Single Use Plastic. He appealed to all the employees to take active part in this noble cause and contribute in making the country clean.

Elaborating on the activities that will be undertaken by various offices and projects of SJVN during Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign, Sh. D.P. Kaushal, Chief General Manger (HR) told that various activities such as nukkad nataks, door-to-door meetings to drive behaviour change to develop alternatives for replacing plastic in daily usage, Competitions in schools for awareness towards adopting better plastic waste management practices , mobilizing masses to opt for the biodegradable substitutes of plastic, tree/sapling plantation drive, plastic waste collection drives etc will be organized during this period.
