Shri Diwakar Nath Misra is a 2000 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, presently serving as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India. He possesses over two decades of administrative experience across key sectors including power, finance, commerce, petroleum & natural gas, personnel administration, rural development, urban development, district administration and Land Revenue Management.

He began his administrative career in Assam in various field and district administration roles, serving as SDO (Civil), Rangia; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup; Joint Secretary, Home & Political Department; Staff Officer in the Chief Secretary’s Office; and Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji and Golaghat districts. During this period, he gained extensive experience in district governance, land revenue management, development administration, and public administration. 

Subsequently, he held senior positions in the Assam Government including Member, Board of Revenue; Principal Secretary, North C Hills (Haflong); and Additional Secretary, Panchayat & Rural Development Department.

At the Government of India level, Shri Misra has held several important assignments including Deputy Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat, Private Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Director in the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Director and later Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Secretary of the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB), and Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry. 

Shri Misra has also assumed charge as Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, in August 2025. His career reflects extensive experience in policy formulation, governance, inter-governmental coordination, economic administration, and public sector management at both state and central government levels.
