Hydro Power

Beginning from a single hydropower project company, SJVN today has a footprint in a Hydroelectric Projects in Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and in the neighboring countries of Nepal and Bhutan.

SJVN is successfully operating the country’s largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydropower Station and is setting new benchmarks in generation and maintenance year after year, after having tackled the silt erosion problems in under-water turbine parts.

Mihumdon HEP with a proposed capacity of 400 MW located in the Dibang basin of Arunachal Pradesh allocated on 22.12.2021 by the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. Project allotted by GoAP on 21.07.2023. Memorandum of Agreement for project development signed with GoAP on 12.08.2023.

 

Sach Khas HEP with a proposed capacity of 267 MW located on river Chenab in Himachal Pradesh was allotted on 05.01.2021 by GoHP.

After investigation, the capacity of the project has been revised to 287 MW with the generation of 1012 MU in a 90% dependable year against the allotted capacity of 267 MW. 

Purthi HEP with proposed capacity of 230 MW located on river Chenab in Distt. Lahaul & Chamba of Himachal Pradesh was allotted on 09.08.2019 by GoHP. Template MoU signed with GoHP on 25.09.2019.

The capacity of the project has been revised to 234 MW with the generation of 826 MU in a 90% dependable year against the allotted capacity of 210 MW. 

Reoli Dugli HEP with a proposed capacity of 430 MW is located on river Chenab in Distt. Lahaul-Spiti of Himachal Pradesh was allotted on 23.10.2019 by GoHP. MoU signed with GoHP on 06.11.2019. Capacity of the project was revised to 456 MW with the generation of 1597 MU in a 90% dependable year against the allotted capacity of 430 MW.

 

Bardang HEP with proposed capacity of 138 MW located on river Chenab in Distt. Lahaul-Spiti of Himachal Pradesh was allotted on 09.08.2019 by GoHP. Template MoU signed with GoHP on 25.09.2019.

Capacity of project revised to 166 MW with the generation of 655 MU in a 90% dependable year against the allotted capacity of 138 MW. 

Devsari HEP with capacity of 194 MW is located on river Pindar, a tributary of river Alaknanda on Ganga basin, in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The project is designed as Run of the River project and has the potential to generate 556.27 MU of electricity in a 90% dependable year.

A Memorandum of Understanding for execution of project was signed with the Government of Uttarakhand on November 21, 2005.

Luhri HEP Stage-II is a run of river project on Satluj river near Nanj village, spread over Shimla, Kullu & Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh. The project is estimated to generate 632 MU of electricity in a 90% dependable year. Investment approval for pre-construction activities of Rs 72.478 Crore was received from GOI on 16.03.18. MoU signed with GoHP on 25.09.2019.

 

The Project shall be financed on 70:30 debt:equity ratio.The estimated cost of the project at March, 2017 price level is Rs. 1182.90 crores.

The Jakhol Sankri HEP with a proposed capacity of 44 MW is located on river Supin, a tributary of river Tons and part of river Yamuna in the Ganga basin, in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The project is designed as a run-of-the-river project and has the potential to generate 166 MU of energy in a year. A Memorandum of Understanding for the execution of the project was signed with the Government of Uttarakhand on November 21, 2005.

Sunni Dam HEP is a run of the river type scheme. The project is situated on Satluj river near Khaira village spread over Shimla and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh. The project is estimated to generate 1382 MU of electric energy in a 90% dependable year. The project is in the construction stage with the main Civil and HM works Package awarded on 14.01.2023. Diversion tunnel has been completed and the river was diverted on 13.01.2024. Excavation for dam abutments and excavation for MAT to the powerhouse and TRT adit is in progress.
